Stunt Car Racer STORY / GAMEPLAY
There's no story here since it's a racing game! In Stunt Car Racer, each race takes place on a roller-coaster style track, made of bumps, jumps, ramps, high banked curves and other challenging obstacles! This makes the control of your vehicle quite tricky and may occasionally find yourself whizzing off the track and either completely wreck it or lose valuable time (and distance) waiting to get back on the track. And remember! You're not racing alone in every circuit! A second vehicle lines-up beside you on the grid and the driver is just as ready to win the race as you! The main goal in Stunt Car Racer is to beat your opponents through each 3-lap race. A great feature of this game is that it supports link gameplay via serial ports (two Amigas or two Ataris). But wait! Here's the most impressive thing? The game can also be played if you even connect an Amiga with an Atari ST! Oh yes! You can play with a friend via linking both computers together! And believe me, the two player mode is more than fun!

GRAPHICS / SOUND
Stunt Car Racer looks cool. Everything is presented in 3D vectors (the car, the tracks and the backgrounds). The ST visuals are identical to the Amiga (quite logical since this game can be played by connecting both computers together). The only details in 2D are your car's interior and engine. This way, the developers have given the game an effect of intense speed! Each track undulates realistically and it's designed in a way that it doesn't need too much detail. Note that the PC (MS DOS) version runs on EGA graphics and the speed is a bit faster and smoother (due to the PC's higher CPU clock) compared to the ST and Amiga! The game's sound is also cool, offering a few nice sampled engine and car crashing sounds.

Hard to play it up to level 3 but always curious to win a race. Fast 3D animation on my Atari 520STFM.
